A landmark study by the Indian Council of Medical Research has documented alarming rates of antibiotic resistance across 14 major cities.
The study found carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae — the last line of antibiotic defence — in more than 35% of ICU patients across 42 sentinel hospitals.
Resistance rates have increased by approximately 40% since the pre-pandemic baseline.
