This Privacy Policy explains how TID Media Pvt. Ltd. ("TID", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you visit https://tidnews.in or use any of our products and services. By using TID, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are
TID — The Incomplete Debate is an independent digital news publication operated by TID Media Pvt. Ltd., registered in India. Our principal address is Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai — 400 051, Maharashtra, India. You can reach our privacy team at privacy@tid.news.
2. Data we collect
We collect information in two ways:
Information you provide directly
- Contact form submissions: name, email address, and message content when you contact us.
- Newsletter subscription: email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
- Correction submissions: name, email, and details of any correction you report.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, time on page, scroll depth, referrer URL, and navigation patterns.
- Device data: browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and device type (mobile, tablet, desktop).
- Location data: approximate geographic location derived from IP address (country and city level only). We do not collect precise GPS location.

We do not knowingly collect special category data (health, biometric, political opinions, etc.).
3. How we use your data
- Delivering our service: serving articles, loading the website, and providing a personalised reading experience.
- Improving TID: analysing how readers use TID to improve navigation, article formats, and content strategy.
- Communication: responding to enquiries and correction requests you submit.
- Newsletter: sending our editorial newsletter if you have subscribed. You may unsubscribe at any time.
- Legal compliance: retaining records as required by Indian law, including the Information Technology Act 2000.
Our legal basis for processing is: (a) legitimate interests for analytics and site improvement; (b) consent for newsletter emails; (c) contract performance for responding to enquiries.
4. Cookies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary: required for the site to function (e.g., theme preference, session state). Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics: used to understand how visitors use TID (e.g., Google Analytics). You can opt out via our cookie banner or Google's opt-out tool.
- Advertising: if display advertising is enabled, third-party ad partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads. See Section 6.
You can manage cookies in your browser settings or through our cookie preference centre (accessible via the footer). Disabling analytics cookies will not affect your ability to read TID.
5. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure website traffic and reader behaviour. Google Analytics collects data using cookies and sends it to Google's servers. We have enabled IP anonymisation and do not permit Google to use our data for advertising purposes.
We may also use privacy-focused analytics tools (Plausible, Fathom) that do not use cookies or collect personal data. These tools are fully compliant with GDPR and PDPB 2023.
6. Advertising
TID may display contextual or behavioural advertising. If behavioural advertising is enabled:
- Third-party ad networks (e.g., Google Ad Manager) may set cookies to serve relevant ads based on your browsing history.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com or via the Digital Advertising Alliance's opt-out tool.
TID editorial decisions are never influenced by advertising. See our Correction Policy for our editorial independence statement.
7. Newsletter
If you subscribe to the TID newsletter, we store your email address with our email service provider and use it only to send you our editorial newsletter. We will never share your email address with third parties for marketing. Every newsletter contains an unsubscribe link that immediately removes you from our list.
8. Third-party services
TID uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — analytics (privacy policy)
- Vercel — hosting and CDN (privacy policy)
- Supabase — database (privacy policy)
- Resend / Mailchimp — email delivery (applicable provider's privacy policy)
9. Data retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected:
- Contact form data: 12 months from submission.
- Newsletter subscription data: until you unsubscribe, plus 30 days.
- Analytics data: 26 months (Google Analytics default), aggregated and anonymised thereafter.
- Server access logs: 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
10. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDPA) and applicable data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access: request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Erasure: request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Objection: object to processing of your data based on legitimate interests.
- Data portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based (e.g., newsletter).

11. Children's privacy
TID is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately at privacy@tid.news.
12. Policy updates
We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or legal requirements change. Significant changes will be announced via a banner on the TID homepage for 30 days. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of TID after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
